Green-on-black map of wheelchair-accessible places across New York City

## context

Finding places in New York that actually work for wheelchair users takes a lot of tedious checking.

## challenge

Accessibility information exists in Google Places, but it's buried per place and mixed with everything else.

## what i built

A scraper that works through restaurants, cafes, museums, parks and libraries, keeps the ones that report accessible entrances and facilities, and carries along rating and category. A map and list let you filter by accessibility, rating and type.

## approach & trade-offs

Pull from the Google Places API, filter on the reported accessibility attributes, and keep the result as a curated dataset rather than a raw dump of pins.

## outcome

A curated dataset of hundreds of vetted locations on a single map.
