Bombay Beach Biennale Map & Schedule
Client · Bombay Beach Biennale · 2026
A mobile-first map and live schedule for an arts festival with ~3,000 attendees, replacing a static map and a hard-to-read spreadsheet. Organizers kept editing in the tools they already used.

## context
The Bombay Beach Biennale is an annual arts festival in Bombay Beach, CA, with roughly 3,000 attendees. Before the app, attendees used a static map and a mobile spreadsheet, and had to jump between them to figure out what was happening, where, and when.
## challenge
Event data lived across Google Sheets, Airtable, emails and form submissions, and it was often out of sync. Organizers kept making changes up to the last minute, and the team didn't want to learn a new CMS.
## what i built
A mobile-first web app with a live Google Map of venue pins, a schedule and calendar view with date and time filters, and detail panels for each venue and event. Organizers got admin tooling and role-based access, so they could update content without touching code.
## approach & trade-offs
Instead of forcing a new CMS on the team, the system is built around Airtable and the sheets they already used. A pipeline (built with Vincent Naples) ingests, cleans and merges those inputs into one canonical source. The app syncs from it with typed data, and caching and revalidation keep last-minute edits showing up without manual copy-paste.
## outcome
A static festival map became a navigable schedule attendees could use while walking around town, and updates got much easier for organizers. The same foundation later became a reusable template; the New Orleans map is the first spin-off.
